Variety of walnut Chisinau

The tree of mid-growth rate with an orbicular crown comes into vegetation two weeks later than the earlier expanding varieties. Staminal and pistillate flowers blossom simultaneously. The breed is self-fertile.
The fruits are of mid size with average weight of a nut being about 10 g. Form of the fruit is round-oblong, apex is slightly mucronated, the bottom is round.

The shell is thin and friable with a smooth lustrous surface of straw-yellow colour; this is easily cracked. There are small edges at the shell halves junction. The white meat of the nut is enveloped by a thin peel of light-yellow colour. The kernel is oily and tasty, with the fat content being over 66 %. The meat makes up approximately 50 % of the fruit mass and can be fully and easily separated.

This kind of nut tree is notable for its high winter hardiness and good yearly fructification. This might be slightly affected by the brown blotch disease.
